Born
in Hungary, Gabrielle fled to Canada as a child with her mother
during the 1956 revolution. Her education in art has spanned the
last twenty five years in various parts of the United States and
Canada. Her art education includes working with talented artists and
teachers such as sculptor Attila Keszei in Toronto, the Art
Student’s League in New York, C.W. Post University in New York and
Scottsdale School of Art in Arizona.
As a
New York Resident for ten years, opportunities for commissions came
from various individuals such as boxing great Jake LaMotta of
“Raging Bull” fame. Mr. LaMotta referred her to numerous other
boxing “greats” such as Ken Norton, Archie Moore and more recently
Canadian hero George Chuvalo.
In
the early 1990’s Gabrielle experimented with hyperrealism, popular
in the 60’s and 70’s. She found this format complemented her talents
as a sculptor. Gabrielle has taught at Haliburton School of Art,
numerous workshops and at her studio in Toronto.
